The World Bank recently released a report, Turn Down the Heat: Why a 4°C Warmer World Must be Avoided. This report, "synthesizing the latest scientific knowledge on global warming warns we’re on a path to a 4 degree warmer world by the end of the century—with huge implications for humanity." New Resources on Ocean Acidification from the National Resource Council
The National Research Council’s Ocean Studies Board has created an Ocean Acidification website that provides access to information and resources that can help educators to explain the science of ocean acidification. Check out Starting with the Science, an easy-to-read booklet (pdf) written for and available to the public, that is based key findings from a 2010 report, Ocean Acidification: A National Strategy to Meet the Challenges of a Changing Ocean. This booklet describes the chemistry of ocean acidification and explores the many questions that remain: How will ocean acidification impact marine life? How will the effects scale up from individual species to whole ecosystems? What will ocean acidification mean for aquaculture, the fishing industry, and coastal tourism? Other resources include downloadable, print ready figures and interviews with two of the scientists who authored the report.
