About

In 2011, the UNC-Chapel Hill Institute for the Environment (IE) received a NASA Innovations in Climate Change (NICE) grant to provide a long duration professional development experience for NC’s high school science teachers on the topic of global climate change. The North Carolina Climate Literacy: Integrating Modeling & Technology Experiences (CLIMATE) Fellows Program, is an interdisciplinary teacher professional development opportunity that will serve 24 teachers annually.  This year-long program will expose participants to global, regional and NC specific data on climate change science and impacts and will incorporate NASA earth observation data and NASA earth system models into interactive and hands-on programming designed to enable participants to experience these tools first-hand in the context of current climate change science.

This blog, created in May 2012, will enable program staff and its participants to share climate science resources relevant to to the teaching of climate change with emphasis on North Carolina with other educators.
